Intimate Wedding at the Farmhouse at Riddle Hill

When Taylor’s inquiry email first landed in my inbox I was really, really, excited. She shared that her fiancé, Lauren, had proposed via a NYT article a few weeks prior, and reading about it I could just tell they were my kind of people.

They planned a wedding day with sixty people in attendance at a family friend’s new venue in Mars Hill. Everyone came together from all over the country to celebrate.

They opted for photos the day before, on the Blue Ridge Parkway, so the wedding day itself could be spent mostly with their guests. We hiked up Craggy Pinnacle for a windy sunset and tried not to lose Taylor’s veil in the process. It was so nice to be able to photograph them then, both so we could get to know each other better and take some pressure off the timeline. I’d highly recommend a session prior to your wedding if you’re considering it! It helps you slow down and focus on each other amidst all the busy last details.

When the time came, Taylor and Lauren got ready together with their best friends in a bedroom upstairs. Everyone gave them hugs before heading down so they could have a few moments to themselves, and that may have been my favorite part of it all. I so loved the excited anticipation, the easy way they are with each other, and seeing them watch their friends and families arrive through the window right before ceremony was set to begin.

They exchanged vows they had each written to the other before some hilarious and heartfelt toasts. We all ate pie and danced. It was simply the best.

Afterwards, the NYT featured them in another article you can check out here
