Drove down on Friday after a quick pit stop in Knoxville (which is so nice, who knew) to Mark Harless's place for some exploring and shooting. As soon as I go there we took off for this abandoned granite quarry which was absolutely incredible. I've never seen anything like it before.
Mark was nice enough to show me all around Huntsville and north Alabama. I can tell it's going to be one of my favorite places of the trip already.
Saturday we woke up and went cave spelunking. I wish I had pictures to show but you can really only see what your headlamp shines on once you're in the cave. Some parts open up to caverns with 50 ft ceilings but in one spot we had to army crawl through mud and water.
After the caves we went to Tatum Ophelia's house to for a shoot. On the way saw an egret in the road and Mark was too SCARED to pick it up so yours truly scooped it into a bag to take with us. Tatum got to hold the thing for Mark's photo... which turned out to be well worth it.
Both Tatum and her parents were so sweet to not only let us come and take photos but show up covered in mud, carrying dogwood branches, and bring a big dead bird into their home.
Next stop Memphis.
